Kris Boyd Questions Duran’s Attitude, But Celtic Star Delivers Perfect Response Against Hibs

Camilo Duran Responds to Kris Boyd’s Celtic Criticism After Match-Winning Display Against Hibs

Celtic striker Camilo Duran has seemingly answered Kris Boyd’s criticism of his attitude after scoring the decisive goal in the Hoops’ victory over Hibernian, insisting that helping the team win remains his biggest priority.

Camilo Duran continues to give Celtic fans plenty to celebrate, but his latest match-winning performance against Hibernian has also sparked a debate about his attitude and preferred position on the pitch.

The Colombian forward scored a superb goal to secure Celtic’s dramatic victory at Easter Road, taking his impressive season tally to 10 goals.

However, despite his decisive contribution, former Rangers striker Kris Boyd questioned Duran’s body language during Sky Sports’ coverage, suggesting that the forward might not have been entirely happy with his role in the team.

Kris Boyd Questions Camilo Duran’s Attitude

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill made an interesting selection decision against Hibernian, deploying Duran on the right wing to accommodate Kasper Hogh in the starting line-up.

The decision came after Duran had enjoyed an impressive performance against Hearts, scoring once and providing two assists while operating through the middle.

Boyd questioned whether the Colombian was frustrated by being moved away from his preferred central attacking position.

The former Rangers striker suggested that Duran’s body language could be interpreted as showing dissatisfaction with his role, particularly considering his excellent goalscoring form.

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton also questioned O’Neill’s decision, focusing more on whether the manager was getting the best out of his in-form forward by playing him out wide.

Duran Sends a Message After Scoring Against Hibs

Duran has now offered his perspective, although he did not directly address Boyd’s criticism.

Speaking to CelticPlayer after the victory, the Colombian made it clear that the result was what mattered most to him.

“I’m really happy to get the victory, that’s what’s important. Now we just need to reset, rest and focus on the next game,” Duran said.

He also acknowledged the difficulty of playing at Easter Road, expressing his happiness at making the difference for his team.

“We knew it would be a tough game here in this stadium. Thankfully it fell to me and it was a good goal, and I’m happy to help the team.”

The forward also spoke positively about representing Celtic, describing wearing the famous Hoops shirt as an honour and expressing his enjoyment of both playing matches and training with his teammates.

His comments offer little indication of any public dissatisfaction with his current situation at the club.

Martin O’Neill Faces a Selection Dilemma

While Duran’s response has addressed some of the questions surrounding his attitude, O’Neill still faces an interesting tactical decision.

With 10 goals already scored this season, the Colombian has demonstrated his ability to deliver consistently in front of goal.

His performance against Hibs also showed that he can remain dangerous even when deployed away from his natural central position.

Interestingly, Duran was eventually moved into a central attacking role after Hogh was substituted in the 64th minute. However, he had already made his mark by cutting inside from the right and curling an excellent finish beyond goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger.

Hogh, meanwhile, has scored three goals this season, leaving O’Neill with an important decision about how best to utilise both forwards.

Duran’s productivity makes a strong argument for giving him more opportunities through the middle, although his ability to operate from the wing provides Celtic with additional attacking flexibility.

Celtic Fans Will Want More From Their Colombian Star

For Celtic supporters, the most important thing is that Duran continues delivering performances that help the team collect victories.

His 10-goal tally before November underlines the impact he has made, and his latest contribution against Hibernian further strengthens his growing importance to O’Neill’s side.

Whether he starts centrally or on the right wing, Duran appears determined to make the most of his opportunities.

However, with his current goalscoring form, the debate over his best position is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.

Do you think Martin O’Neill should make Camilo Duran Celtic’s main striker, or is the Colombian just as dangerous playing from the right wing?
